Patroclos is a noble, loyal, and trustworthy person. He is the son of Menoetius and the grandson of Actor, the King of Opus. He is also considered to be the closest comrade of Achilles. Patroclos i known for his loyalty to the Myrmidons especially Achilles. He is the type of warrior who does what he is told without complaining or asking any questions. He is selfless and cares for the welfare of Achilles and his fellow warriors. He would do anything for them even if it means dying for the sake of the Myrmidons and Achilles. There are also times when he is reckless. One proof of Patroclos' loyalty and recklessness to the Myrmidons was when he tried to convince Achilles into lending him his armor, so that he could go to battle and join his comrades in fighting against the Trojans. Achilles advised him to go and save the burning ships instead of fighting against the Trojans, but still Patroclos went to the battlefield. He didn't go there unprepared, in fact he had a plan. He would pretend to be Achilleus so that the Achains would have hope and try to turn the tables. He knew that what he was doing would cost him his life, but he did it anyways for the sake of the Myrmidons and Achilles. In the end, he was killed by Hector thanks to Apollo for distracting him. This just shows his loyalty and concern to the Myrmidons . He knew that many of his comrades were dying on the battlefield so he decided that he must do something about this. Even if this was his fate , he was still proud of himself for he knew that he did something for the sake of his comrades. He knew in himself that he died with honor. He may not have returned home with his shield, but he certainly died with his face on his shield.

The Mighty Achilles
Achilles is a mighty, skillful, and feared warrior. He is the great king of the Myrmidons and son of the Goddess Thetis and Peleus. Achilles was brave, noble, strong. His opponents fear him for he is very skilled on the battleground. No one dares to challenge him for they knew what would happen to them if they challenge the mighty Achilles. He was also known as a great leader who led his army in the battle against the Trojans. Unfortunately, during their battle against the Trojans, Achilles left his men in the battlefield. He was still affected with what King Agamemnon did to his beloved Breseis. We can see in Chapter 9 that the Trojans are starting to win for Achilles left the Achaians to fight by themselves. Agamemnon now sends Odysseus, Ajax, and Phoenix hoping that they could convince Achilles to come back to battle with the Achaians. They told him that Breseis was never touched by Agamemnon or any other man. King Agamemnon offered to give her back to Achilles including many more gifts, but Achilles refused this offer. He was so selfish and arrogant at the same time, for he only thought of himself. He didn't realize that his people needed him to fight along side them and defeat the Trojans. He was too much offended by Agamemnon that his way of thinking was greatly affected by his emotions. With him alongside the Achains, their victory would be certain, but Achilles was selfish and arrogant, despite the many gifts and Breseis being offered to him, he still refused to accept it and go back to battle. A good king always thinks of the welfare of his kingdom and his people before himself. He should be firm and confident with every decisions that he makes. For a king like Achilles, his decisions were not appropriate. He will always be a good warrior, but will he ever be a good leader?

A Stubborn King
In the old days, kings rule over the land. They are the one responsible for their people and their land. The King is also responsible of exercising leadership over himself, over his people, and over situations. He is the one who makes important decisions for the welfare of his kingdom and his people. Unfortunately, this was not the case with King Agamemnon. He was not the typical king we know. He was stubborn, arrogant, and greedy. He never really cares about his people. He only cares about what would benefit him. One example of his stubbornness was when the time he has the daughter of Chryses, the priest of Apollo. Chryses went to see Agamemnon and get her daughter back. He carried with him unlimited ransom and the scepter of Apollo Shootafar. The Achaians were pleased with what the old man brought for them in exchange for her daughter, but King Agamemnon did not accept the offer and instead he spoke bad words to Chryses and sent him away. Immediately after what the king did to Chryses he prayed to Apollo that the Danaans may suffer. After hearing the priest's prayer, Apollo went down from Mount Olympus and he wreacked havoc among the Danaans for 9 days. Achilles, son of Peleus called for a meeting on the tenth day. They were aiming to convince the stubborn King Agamemnon to give back the daughter of Chryses. Unfortunately, as expected of King Agamemnon, he refused to give back the daughter of Chryses but found another way. His condition was in replace of the daughter of Chryses, he would take the most important thing for Achilles, the girl he loved. Knowing this, Achilles did not agree. He said that if King Agamemnon would continue this plan then he would leave the battlefield and withdraw from the battle. It was against Achilles' will because he was considered to be the greatest warrior of the Acheans.
