In the old days, kings rule over the land. They are the one responsible for their people and their land. The King is also responsible of exercising leadership over himself, over his people, and over situations. He is the one who makes important decisions for the welfare of his kingdom and his people. Unfortunately, this was not the case with King Agamemnon. He was not the typical king we know. He was stubborn, arrogant, and greedy. He never really cares about his people. He only cares about what would benefit him. One example of his stubbornness was when the time he has the daughter of Chryses, the priest of Apollo. Chryses went to see Agamemnon and get her daughter back. He carried with him unlimited ransom and the scepter of Apollo Shootafar. The Achaians were pleased with what the old man brought for them in exchange for her daughter, but King Agamemnon did not accept the offer and instead he spoke bad words to Chryses and sent him away. Immediately after what the king did to Chryses he prayed to Apollo that the Danaans may suffer. After hearing the priest's prayer, Apollo went down from Mount Olympus and he wreacked havoc among the Danaans for 9 days. Achilles, son of Peleus called for a meeting on the tenth day. They were aiming to convince the stubborn King Agamemnon to give back the daughter of Chryses. Unfortunately, as expected of King Agamemnon, he refused to give back the daughter of Chryses but found another way. His condition was in replace of the daughter of Chryses, he would take the most important thing for Achilles, the girl he loved. Knowing this, Achilles did not agree. He said that if King Agamemnon would continue this plan then he would leave the battlefield and withdraw from the battle. It was against Achilles' will because he was considered to be the greatest warrior of the Acheans.
